We will remember them

All lost with 75(NZ) Squadron – 1940 to 1945

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Remebering today; Charles Burton Hill of Coaltown of Wemyss. Born January 8th 1918. Died on the night of 29/30th August during air operations over the Baltic Sea. His body was recovered by two fishermen and taken to the Gravechapel in Ahus on the Swedish coast, before being interred alongside a few of his fellow crewmen in the Commonwealth War Graves Commision site in Helsingborg’s Palsjo Cemetery.

Great tribute thanks Simon, very sobering to see all the names in one block like that. So many young men, so much wasted potential. Let’s hope this never happens again.

Remembering F/O Cliff Watson, P/O Doug Henley and F/S Ian Smith – all New Zealanders making the ultimate sacrifice thousands of miles from their homes in Stirling AA-P Reg no EE878 on 31.8.1943. God bless you and all 58,000 who perished in their quest to rid this world of tyranny.
