Thirteen Wellington aircraft of this Unit were detailed to carry out individual bombing attacks against the above targes. AGN.260 failed to locate the target and jettisoned bombs, while AGN.614 and AGN.967 also failed to locate targets and brought bombs back. Intense A.A. fire was experienced in parts of the target areas, and intense and accurate searchlights were encountered at parts of route. Heavy cloud, with icing conditions, was experienced in some parts of target areas.

Operations.     BOMBING ATTACKS ON BOULOGNE AND MANNHEIM.
Five Wellington aircraft of this Unit were detailed to carry out individual attacks against the above target. Some heavy A.A. fire was experienced en route, but there was very little over target area. Slight searchlight activity was experienced over Boulogne and Calais, but they were ineffective over Mannheim owing to cloud. Ten-tenths cloud, with icing conditions, were experienced over Mannheim and Ruhr.

Fairly heavy and accurate A.A. fire was experienced over target area, but there was very little activity elsewhere. Searchlights were ineffective over target area due to cloud, but many, which were very effective, were experienced over Amsterdam. Heavy cloud was experienced over almost whole of route and in target areas.

Two machines, LTG.477 and LTG.544 failed to locate the target, the former jettisoning bombs on waste ground near AACHEN. Intense, but inaccurate, light and heavy flak was experienced. Searchlights were active in target area, but were hampered by moonlight. Weather wa good over target area, but cloud ws experienced at various parts of route.

Twelve Wellington aircraft of this Unit were detailed to carry out individual bombing attacks against the above targets. One of these aircraft, DMU.692, captain SGT. Chuter, failed to return. DMU.936 failed to locate target and bombs were brought back. Fairly intense A.A. fire was experienced over Mannheim, but there was not much searchlight activity. DMU.804 was attacked by one ME.110 which was hit but not brought down. Low cloud was experienced at various parts of route and target areas.
