Operations: BOMBING ATTACKS AGAINST TARGETS AT LE HAVRE.
Four Wellington 1c aircraft from this Unit were detailed to carry out the above attacks. Bomb load consisted of 250 lbs and container of incendiaries, but as the target was not identified the bomb load was returned. AA fire was moderate and searchlights were isolated. Navigation was satisfactory. The operation was marred by 10/10 cloud cover over the target area.

Operations: BOMBING ATTACKS AGAINST TARGETS AT BREST.
Nine Wellington 1c aircraft from this Unit were detailed to carry out the above attacks. A mixed bombload consisting of 4000lb, 1000lb and 500lb was carried, and was dropped in the target area, bomb bursts being observed. An accurate barrage of light and heavy flak was encountered. There was a large number of searchlight operating in cones. Weather was good with 2/10 to 4/10 cloud over target. Navigation was good.

Operations: BOMBING ATTACKS AGAINST TARGETS AT BREST.
Five Wellington 1c aircraft of this Unit were detailed to carry out the above attacks. Bomb load consisted of 4000lbs and 500lbs. No results were observed owing to cloud over at target area. Heavy, light and medium flak was encountered over the target area. Only a few searchlights were active. Weather was poor. High winds were prevalent. Navigation was marred by weather conditions.

1645 – 2318 Seven Wellington 1c aircraft from this Unit were detailed to carry out the above attacks. Bomb load consisted of 500lbs, 250lbs and containers of incendiaries. Bombs were dropped in the target area but results were not observed. Light and heavy flak was encountered and many searchlights were active but ineffective owing to cloud. Visibility was fair but 10 tenths cloud over the target area. Navigation was good. Wellington Z1083, Captained by Sgt Climie, landed at Exeter on return to get medical aid to P/O Gunning who was injured whilst aircraft was over target.

1623 – 2359 Seven Wellington 1c and one Wellington II aircraft were detailed from this Unit to carry out the above attacks. Bomb load consisted of 4000lbs, 500lbs, 250lbs and containers of incendiaries. Bomb bursts and fires were seen in the target area. Light, medium and heavy accurate flat was met and searchlights were not very active. Weather was good over the target. Navigation was good. Wellington Z8834, captained by Sgt Bentley crashed at Burners Heath on return. The captain being killed and the crew injured.

Operations: BOMBING ATTACKS AGAINST TARGETS AT BREST.
1620 – 2230 Twelve Wellington 1c aircraft were detailed from this Unit to carry out the above attacks. Bomb load consisted of 4000lbs, 1000lbs, 500lbs, 250lbs and containers of incendiaries. Bombs were seen to burst into town and railway station at Düsseldorf. Intense heavy flak was encountered over target areas and large concentrations of searchlights were active. Weather was good with very good visibility over the target area. Navigation was good. Wellington Z8971, captained by Sgt Machin, crashed near Dartmoor owing to failure of port engine. The entire crew bailed out safely.
