RAFVR General Duties Branch appointed as Pilot Officer on probation (emergency) 20 Oct 1943 – was 1562617, now 161049. 20 April 1944 – Pilot Officer (prob.) confirmed in appointment and to be Flying Officers (war subs.). 25 September 1945 DFC Gazetted. Promoted Flight Lieutenant 20.10.1945.
And now the really exciting bit of news – he has found the granddaughter of Zinzan on an ancestry website and in her post she gives her fathers, the pilots son’s, email address. I can feel my heart racing as I read this – might there be a picture of Dad somewhere??
